Late Unlucky Looks Stop Knicks Comeback at Delaware

WILMINGTON, DE - The Westchester Knicks, the official NBA G League affiliate of the New York Knicks, had two opportunities in the final seconds but both fell short, and the Delaware Blue Coats escaped with a 93-91 victory Friday evening at Chase Fieldhouse.
The Knicks (4-8) worked up leads as much as eight points in the first frame and 14 in the second with Two-Way player, Jericho Sims, spearheading the club with 11 points and seven rebounds by the intermission, 53-42. MJ Walker (affiliate) chipped in 10 points of his own by the break.
Delaware (11-1) fought back and leveled the playing field with two minutes remaining in the third. The Blue Coats would go on to lead by four prior to the fourth quarter's start, 73-69.
Though the Knicks remained in striking distance in the fourth, the team could not break through. With 22 seconds pictured on the clock and possession back with the Knicks started by a Sims defensive rebound, Myles Powell (affiliate) and Sims were unable to convert in waning time and the two-point decision was settled.
Walker's 23 points tonight established a new career-high and he attained it on 60-percent shooting. Walker also knocked in five triples on 50-percent. Sims grabbed a 11-point and 19-rebound double-double and Powell ended with 15 points in his 2021-22 debut. Brandon Goodwin (affiliate) dished a season-high 13 assists.
Delaware had six players finish in double figures led by Charles Bassey's 16 points and 14 rebounds.
Next up for the Knicks is the 2021 NBA G League Winter Showcase which will take place in Las Vegas from December 19-22 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center. Westchester's game schedule is to be determined.
