NBA G League News & Notes: Winter Showcase Preview

=SHOWCASE CUP TOURNAMENT: Eight NBA G League teams quali- fied for the 2021 Showcase Cup taking place during the 2021 AT&T NBA G League Winter Showcase in Las Vegas. The Delaware Blue Coats earned the Showcase Cup's top seed while the Maine Celtics (2) and Rio Grande Valley Vipers (3) round out the top three seeds.
The South Bay Lakers (4), Wisconsin Herd (5), Oklahoma City Blue (6), Motor City Cruise (7) and Fort Wayne Mad Ants (8) complete the field competing in the single-elimination tournament for the right to hoist the Showcase Cup Championship trophy. The event kicks off with Wisconsin vs. South Bay at 3 p.m. ET on ESPN2. Be- low you can find the Showcase Cup bracket displaying the tourna- ment's matchups.
2021 AT&T NBA G LEAGUE WINTER SHOWCASE: Teams that did not qualify for the Showcase Cup Tournament will each play two games in Las Vegas. The NBA's premiere in-season scouting event is a springboard to the Association, with more than 60 players earn- ing GATORADE Call-Ups during or immediately following the last 16 Showcases. NBA G League teams and NBA G League Ignite will play a total of 30 games over the four-day competition in front of NBA and G League front office personnel with games being aired on ESPN's family of networks, NBA TV and GLeague.nba.com.
36-GAME REGULAR SEASON: Following the Showcase Cup, team records will reset and the 36-game regular season will tip off on Monday, Dec. 27. Teams will be split into Eastern and Western conferences and playoff participation will be based on the records from the 36-game regular season. At the conclusion of the regular season, the top six teams in each conference with the best records will earn a spot in the 2022 NBA G League Playoffs presented by Google Pixel. The postseason will have a traditional format and fin- ish with the 2022 NBA G League Finals presented by YouTube TV.=
