Wisconsin Herd Falls Short to South Bay Lakers

OSHKOSH, Wis. - The Wisconsin Herd, the NBA G League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks, lost the first game of the Showcase Cup to the South Bay Lakers 119-112.

Jalen Lecque scored a season and career-high of 22 points for the Herd. Paris Bass earned a double-double for the South Bay Lakers with 23 points and 18 rebounds.

Four of the eight players for the South Bay Lakers scored over 17 points for the team. The largest lead the Lakers had over the Herd was 19 points. The Herd battled to the end resulting in a 3-point game with less than two minutes left.

The South Bay Lakers shot over 50% in the third quarter which led them to a 12-point lead over the Herd. The Herd had nine of their 18 turnovers in the third quarter.

At the end of the first quarter, the score was tied at 25-25. Jemerrio Jones led the Wisconsin Herd with seven points and two rebounds. Frank Mason III led the South Bay Lakers with eight points and three rebounds.

The South Bay Lakers led at the half 57-55. Tremont Waters and Jalen Lecque both led the Herd with 10 points. For the South Bay Lakers, Frank Mason III and Mason Jones both led the team with 13 points.

At the half, there were a total of 10 lead changes and eight times tied. The Wisconsin Herd had 26 bench points and the South Bay Lakers had 15. Jemerrio Jones had four of the seven team steals for the Herd.

The Lakers led 97-84 at the end of the third quarter with Mason III scoring 20 points. Lindell Wigginton led the Herd with 14 points and five assists.

The South Bay Lakers kept the lead over the Herd for the entire second half. With 45 seconds remaining in the game, the Lakers led with five points over the Herd.

The Wisconsin Herd will play again in the Showcase Cup on Tuesday, December 21 against the loser of the Delaware Blue Coats and the Fort Wayne Mad Ants with tip-off at 5 p.m. CST.
