Youngstown SteelHounds News Release

Youngstown, OH - The Youngstown SteelHounds (5-5-1) finished their six-game home stand on a sour note Wednesday night as they gave up two third period goals dropping a 3-1 decision to the Laredo Bucks (7-5-0).

The first 38 minutes of the game was a tight checking affair with limited scoring chances for both clubs. Each team mustered 11 shots on net in the first period but both goaltenders stole the show going perfect through the first 20 minutes. In the second period, the Bucks got on the board first when Nick Warriner cleaned up on a rebound in the slot for his fourth goal of the season assisted by Adam Stefishen.

In the third period, Youngstown would tie the game at the 8:42 mark with Kris Mallette taking a pass from Scott Barnes and beating Michael Dilorenzo for his first goal of the season assisted by Barnes and Lorne Misita. Laredo would answer back with a pair of goals in a 1:21 span as Steve Simoes scored his second goal of the season and Warriner added his fifth of the year on a great effort off a feed from Stefishen.

The SteelHounds outshot the Bucks in the third period 11-7 but in the game Laredo finished on top 29-27. David St. Germain fell to 2-4-1 making 26 saves and Dilorenzo went to 3-0 making 25 saves.

Youngstown hits the road for three straight games beginning on Friday night in Lubbock versus the Cotton Kings. Face-off is scheduled for 8:05 PM EST.
