PAWTUCKET, R.I. -- The Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs scored nine runs in the final three innings Thursday to beat the Pawtucket Red Sox, 14-5, before a paid crowd of 6,612.

Tyson Gillies broke a 5-5- tie with a three-run homer off reliever Oscar Villarreal (LP, 2-1) in the top of the 7th, before Steven Lerud, with one on, and Cody Overbeck, with the bases full, went deep off Anthony Carter in the 9th.

In all, Lehigh Valley collected 18 hits, including six for extra bases. While every Iron Pig had a hit, four finished with at least three knocks and seven scored runs. Lehigh Valley won the four-day series by outscoring Pawtucket, 30-14, in its three victories.

The late onslaught spoiled a PawSox comeback in the 6th inning, when David Oritz led off with a towering homer to right and the next four batters followed with hits off reliever Mike Stutes. Eventually, Jose Iglesias tied the contest at 5-5 with an RBI double. But Stutes (WP, 1-1) avoided further trouble and lefties Joe Savery and Jake Diekman (S, 1) retired nine of 10 hitters faced.

Though he did not factor in the decision, Pawtucket starter Rubby De La Rosa struggled for the third straight outing. He allowed three walks in the 2nd inning, allowing four two-out runs. Steve Susdorf doubled in the first and Jermaine Mitchell tripled with the bases loaded for a 4-0 lead.

De La Rosa left after 2.0 innings, allowing four earned runs on just two hits, as well as three walks. As a result, his ERA jumped to 13.50 through three outings, encompassing 6.2 innings.

Susdorf added an RBI single off Jeremy Kehrt in the top of the 3rd, before the PawSox got on the board with Drew Sutton's run-scoring groundout in the bottom of the inning.

The Sox (10-4) concluded the homestand with five wins in eight days and now travel to Rochester to begin an eight-game road trip Friday at 7:05 p.m.
