Lake Elsinore Storm News Release
Another night, another game that began in the Inland 66ers favor just to be turned around by the Lake Elsinore Storm. In a 5-3 victory, the Storm relied on a bases-loaded double from Cole Cummings to secure their third straight win.
The night began just as the two before it. The 66ers jumped on top following three scoreless frames from either team. A sacrifice fly from Edgar Quero gave them a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning and a triple and a sac fly would give them a more comfortable 3 run lead. In the 6th inning, soft-hit singles from Jarryd Dale and Cole Cummings got the lead to within one run.
It was not until the 8th inning, however, that the Storm took their first lead of the night. A hit by pitch and two walks would load the bases for the hottest hitter in Minor League baseball, Cole Cummings. His .407 average in 9 games in Lake Elsinore somehow doesn't accurately depict how dominant he has been with the organization. On a 2-2 count, Cummings crushed a ball down the first base side to score three and give him a 4 RBI night.
Alek Jacob would finish the night with a walk, a strikeout, and a double-play ball to give the Storm their third straight win.
The Storm look for their third 4-game win streak of the season tomorrow night for the final Firework Friday of the season. The stadium is set to be packed right as the team seems to be on its best roll of the year.
