Erie SeaWolves News Release
The SeaWolves concluded their home stand on the wrong end of sweep as New Hampshire took the series finale 3-2.
Hernan Perez started the scoring in the first inning. With two outs, Perez's solo homerun put Erie ahead 1-0.
The Fisher Cats responded in the top of the fifth inning. Kyle Lobstein struggled with his command and loaded the bases with a single and two walks allowed. Brain Van Kirk singled to bring home two runs and give New Hampshire a 2-1 lead with runners on the corners. During the next at bat, home plate umpire Nick Lentz called Lobstein for a balk that brought home New Hampshire's third run of the inning.
New Hampshire starter Marcus Stroman had his strongest outings of the year, striking out a career high eight innings before being relieved after five. The SeaWolves almost broke through in the bottom of the fifth. A two out rally loaded the bases for Daniel Fields, who struck out swinging.
The bullpens took over after the early scoring. Erie starter Kyle Lobstein took the loss after a quality start of seven innings and three earned runs. Justin Souza pitched two scoreless to close out New Hampshire.
The Fisher Cats ChoryeSpoone worked three scoreless innings in relief of Stroman only allowing two base runners.
Dustin Antolin came in to work the ninth for New Hampshire. After allowing a two out single to Corry Jones, Marcus Lemon put Erie back on board with an RBI double and trail 3-2. Jamie Johnson grounded out to end the game.
