Niagara IceDogs News Release

A late goal by Mitchell Fitzmorris lifted the Niagara IceDogs to a 4-3 win over the Sudbury Wolves Saturday night at the Meridian Centre.

The Wolves got on the board first thanks to a goal by Danny Desrochers at 7:59 of the first period. Anthony DiFruscia answered for the IceDogs with a power play goal, his 21st goal of the season, to tie things up with less than three minutes remaining in the first period.

The Wolves took the lead at 5:40 of the second period when Brody Silk put a rebound past IceDogs goaltender Brandon Hope. The IceDogs answered once again thanks to Vince Dunn's 16th goal of the season.

Brendan Perlini gave the IceDogs a 3-2 lead at 8:18 of the third period, but Conor Cummins tied it up for the Wolves. Fitzmorris picked a perfect time to get his first goal of the season. He redirected a great pass from Jordan Maletta past Wolves goalie Troy Timpano to give the IceDogs a 4-3 lead with nine seconds remaining, lifting them to victory.

Hope made 22 saves in goal for the IceDogs.

They're right back at it tomorrow afternoon as they host the Windsor Spitfires at the Meridian Centre.
