Belleville Bulls News Release

BELLEVILLE, ON - The Belleville Bulls continue their three game weekend as they host the Ottawa 67's at Yardmen Arena on Saturday night. The Bulls wrapped up a 34-year rivalry last night as they were defeated 5-2 by the Kingston Frontenacs. Ottawa, however, is coming off a big 2-1 win over the visiting Oshawa Generals. The final meeting between the clubs is set for 7:05pm.

The 67's opened up the scoring with a power play goal just over five minutes in and added another man advantage tally in the second period to help snap a five game losing skid. 1996-born centre Dante Salituro scored both goals for Ottawa. Netminder Liam Herbst made 31 saves in the victory and walked away with first star honours.

Salituro continues to lead his club in the scoring department as he has potted 37 goals and dished out 35 assists in 64 games played. Right-winger Travis Konecny has pitched in with 29 goals and 39 assists in 60 games played. Herbst, the Etobicoke, Ontario native, has been strong between the pipes for his club as he has a .899 save percentage and 2 shutouts so far this season.

The Bulls suffered a tough loss at the Rogers K-Rock Centre on Friday night. The Fronts got on the board late in the first period and never looked back on route to a 5-2 victory. Goal scorers for the Bulls were Captain Brett Welychka and forward Adam Laishram. Rookie goaltender Connor Hicks got the start and made 38 saves in the loss.

Blueliner Jordan Subban leads the team offensively still with 24 goals and 23 assists in 59 games played. Over age winger Brett Gustavsen has been a key contributor as well with 18 goals and 20 assists. Toronto native Charlie Graham, who is expected to start tonight, owns a .914 save percentage and a 3.21 goals against average.

The Bulls are still one point ahead of the eighth place Peterborough Petes and can clinch an Eastern Conference playoff birth with a win or a Mississauga Steelheads loss. The Trout are taking on the top ranked Oshawa Generals tonight.
