Windsor Spitfires News Release
(Windsor, ON) - A late goal from Matthew Hotchkiss lifted the Guelph Storm to a 2-1 win over the Windsor Spitfires in front of 4,441 at the WFCU Centre Sunday afternoon.
Rookie centre Logan Brown opened the scoring, burying a loose puck past Storm goaltender Justin Nichols (28 saves) on a late first period powerplay, sending the Spitfires to the room with a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes.
The 16-year-old became the second Spitfire in as many games to score his first career goal in his first OHL game.
Defenceman Ben Harpur got the Storm even on a 5-on-3 powerplay just 1:26 into the second period, beating Alex Fotinos (32 saves) through a screen.
The winner came with less than eight minutes to play in regulation, as Hotchkiss flipped a loose puck past Fotinos, with both Spitfires defencemen occupied after a 2-on- 2 rush.
The Spitfires are back in action Thursday night, as they host Barrie Colts (7:05).
