Tucson Padres News Release

The Las Vegas 51s hit four home runs Thursday, including two by Wilmer Flores, and defeated the Tucson Padres 11-3 at Cashman Field. The Padres lead on top of the Southern Division dropped to 1.5 games with the loss.

Matt den Dekker started the scoring for the 51s in the second with a solo home run over the right-center field fence. The Padres tied the score in the top of the third on Jaff Decker's RBI single, but Flores responded in the bottom of the inning with a solo home run to put Las Vegas back on top. Flores hit his second homer of the night in the fifth, a two-run shot to left, to extend the 51s lead to 4-1. Zach Lutz followed Flores with a home run of his own and then Jamie Hoffmann's two-run double made it 7-1 in favor of Las Vegas.

The Padres got two runs back in the seventh on sacrifice flies to center by Mike Wilson and Decker.

Flores finished the game 4-for-5 with four RBIs. Reliever Justin Hampson earned the win after allowing fours hits and a run in two innings. Las Vegas starter Rafael Montero pitched two scoreless innings to begin the game, but was pulled early because he is slated to pitch in Sunday's All-Star Futures Game in New York. Tucson starting pitcher Anthony Bass lost his third game after surrendering seven runs on 11 hits, including four home runs. Gregorio Petit's hitting streak ended at 12 games after going hitless in four at-bats Thursday.
