Las Vegas makes moves in preparation for Philadelphia

Las Vegas, NV, April 14, 2005 – The Las Vegas Gladiators announced today they have activated FB/LB Frank Carter and placed FB/LB Rodney Filer on the injured reserve list. They have also activated and waived DS Kelly Malveaux, waived DS Jeremy Unertl and signed OS Jerome Riley to the practice squad.

Carter (6'1", 260, MacMurray) returns to action this week after missing the previous two games with a sprained ankle. He currently leads the League in sacks with nine and has tallied 18 tackles, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. On offense, Carter has carried the ball 26 times for 73 yards with five touchdowns. He was named the AFL's ADT Defensive Player of the Week after his performance in Week 3 against the New York Dragons when he sacked Dragons quarterback Aaron Garcia on three consecutive plays.

Riley (6'2", 185, Washington State) joins the Gladiators after spending the last season and a half with the Los Angeles Avengers. He played in five games this season for Los Angeles and caught 17 passes for 350 yards with five touchdowns. Riley was placed on the injured reserve list on March 5, and was activated and released by the Avengers on April 1.

The Gladiators travel to Philadelphia to take on the Soul in Week 13 on Sunday, April 17. Kickoff is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. PT and will be aired on NBC with Bob Papa and Ray Bentley calling the game. It may also be heard on ESPN Radio 920 with Andrew Siciliano and Mike Pritchard calling the game.
