NEW YORK â Offensive Player of the Year candidate OS DAMIAN HARRELL (6-3, 200, Florida State) and the AFLWA's No. 1-ranked Colorado Crush (8-2), who continue to charge toward the top seed in the American Conference, will travel to Allstate Arena to play U.S. Army Ironman of the Year candidate WR/LB ETU MOLDEN (6-2, 195, Montana) and the surging No. 8 Chicago Rush (6-4) this Sunday at 1 p.m. ET on NBC.
Colorado head coach MIKE DAILEY and the Central Division leading Crush are on a seven-game winning streak, while Chicago head coach MIKE HOHENSEE and the Rush are looking to climb the standings and improve their postseason Wild Card position after knocking off the defending champion San Jose SaberCats last week.
Tributes for fallen Los Angeles Avengers OL/DL AL LUCAS will abound this weekend. A moment of silence will be conducted at all eight AFL games beginning with three contests Friday, April 15, as well as at all nine arenafootball2 games. In addition, players from every AFL team will wear a No. 76 helmet decal for the remainder of the season, including this weekend. The Avengers play at Nashville at Gaylord Entertainment Center this Sunday.
The 2004 U.S. Army Ironman of the Year and Orlando Predators WR/LB CORY FLEMING (6-3, 215, Tennessee) will join AFL on NBC studio host AL TRAUTWIG and analyst GLENN PARKER in the studio for halftime commentary and postgame wrap-up interviews.
On the West Coast, Ironman of the Year candidate WR/DB WILL PETTIS (6-0, 200, Midwestern State) and the AFLWA's No. 6-tied Dallas Desperados (6-3-1) head to HP Pavilion to play March Offensive Player of the Month OS RASHIED DAVIS (5-10, 180, San Jose State) and the No. 5 San Jose SaberCats (6-4) this Friday at 10:30 p.m. ET on Fox Sports Net.
Dallas head coach WILL MC CLAY looks to QB CLINT STOERNER (6-2, 210, Arkansas) to guide the Desperados' offense (53.4 PPG, No. 4 in AFL), while San Jose head coach DARREN ARBET has former Offensive Player of the Year QB MARK GRIEB (6-3, 208, UC-Davis) leading the SaberCats' high-powered offense (57.8 PPG, No. 2 in AFL).
In Orlando, former Offensive Player of the Year QB AARON GARCIA (6-1, 195, Sacramento State) and the New York Dragons (6-4) head to TD Waterhouse Centre to face QB JOE HAMILTON (5-10, 190, Georgia Tech) and the AFLWA's No. 3 Orlando Predators (7-4) this Friday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
Games slated for Week 12 include: Grand Rapids at Georgia, New York at Orlando, Dallas at San Jose (FSN Bay Area-*1:30 p.m. Sat., FSN Southwest) on Friday; Columbus at New Orleans (AFL Net â www.arenafootball.com) on Saturday; Colorado at Chicago (NBC), Las Vegas at Philadelphia (NBC), Los Angeles at Nashville and Tampa Bay at Austin on Sunday. The Arizona Rattlers have a bye week.
