Las Vegas Gladiators claim Coco Blalock off waivers

Las Vegas, NV, April 21, 2004 – The Las Vegas Gladiators claimed WR/LB Coco Blalock off the waiver wire today. Blalock was waived by the Columbus Destroyers on Tuesday. Blalock spent 2001-2003 playing for the Gladiators in both Las Vegas and New Jersey.

In ten games this season for Columbus, Blalock had 47 receptions for 433 yards and three touchdowns. He has also returned 26 kicks off the net for 496 yards and one touchdown.

During his Gladiator career, Blalock was the Gladiators' MVP in 2001 when he had 51 receptions for 768 yards and 10 touchdowns in only eight games. Blalock missed the entire 2002 season after injuring his Achilles tendon in a 2002 preseason game.

In 2003, Blalock played in the final four regular season games and caught 15 passes for 180 yards and two touchdowns. He also returned five kickoffs for 136 yards with one touchdown

The Gladiators take on the Detroit Fury on Sunday, April 25 at the Thomas & Mack Center. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 PM. Due to a scheduling conflict with the Los Angeles Lakers playoff game, fans not in attendance can listen to the game on a taped delayed basis on ESPN Radio 920 at 4:00 PM, with Andrew Siciliano and Mike Pritchard on the call.
