Colorado Springs Sky Sox News Release
Las Vegas always finds a way to get even, and that's exactly what the 51s did Friday night in front of 6,192 fans at Security Service Field. Following last night's 13-0 loss, the 51s responded with a 12-0 victory of their own.
Las Vegas sent 16 batters to the plate during a third and fourth inning which saw them plate seven runners and break the game open.
Delwyn Young and Blake DeWitt hit back-to-back doubles in the third inning before knocking back-to-back triples in the fourth inning. Chin-Lung Hu added three hits and two RBI on a night when the 51s hit the Sky Sox pitching early and often.
Greg Reynolds (1-3) lasted just three innings before leaving in favor of Mark Redman (5 innings, five runs). The former first round pick allowed seven hits and six runs, five earned.
Jerome Williams (1-2) paced the 51s pitching staff, shutting down the Sky Sox for five innings. He allowed just two hits.
James McDonald and Justin Orenduff finished off the shutout for Las Vegas, which became the first team this season to shut out the Sky Sox at Security Service Field. The four hits equals a Sky Sox season low for hits.
The 6,192 fans in attendance Friday night pushed the Sky Sox season attendance to 274,844, a new single-season attendance record for the Sky Sox. The former record of 274,408 was set just last season.
The Sky Sox and 51s continue their five-game set Saturday night with another 7:05 MDT game. Oscar Villarreal (0-0, 0.00) will try to build off a solid outing his last time out, against Eric Stults (7-6, 3.83).
