Las Vegas Assistant Coach Leaves to Become Head Coach In CHL

LAS VEGAS, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers® announced today that Assistant General Manager / Assistant Coach Brent Bilodeau has been named the Head Coach of the Central Hockey League's Wichita Thunder.

Bilodeau takes his first head coaching position after serving as the Wranglers' Assistant GM and Assistant Coach for the last three seasons. During his tenure under Las Vegas Head Coach Glen Gulutzan, the Wranglers posted the best record in the ECHL at 146-38-32 (.750). In 2005-06, the Wranglers posted 53 wins (tied for second most in ECHL history) and 112 points. In 2006-07, Las Vegas won the Brabham Cup as the league's regular season champion with a 46-12-14 mark. Las Vegas recently completed its 2007-08 season as National Conference Champions and Kelly Cup Finalist after posting a 47-13-12 record.

"If you look at the success our teams have had over the last three years, it is very clear that Brent has been a huge part of it", said Las Vegas Wranglers General Manager / Head Coach Glen Gulutzan. "He has done an excellent job developing young defensemen for the next level and preparing himself to become a head coach. He did a great job for us and I expect him to do the same in Wichita. Obviously, the entire Wranglers organization wishes him the best of luck."

The 35-year old Bilodeau retired after the 2004-05 season, ending a 12-year playing career. The former defenseman spent six years of his career as a player/ assistant coach for the Johnstown Chiefs. Bilodeau suited up for 779 career games in the AHL, IHL, ECHL and WCHL scoring 55 goals and adding 184 assists, while racking up 1,338 penalty minutes. The Clyde, ALTA native was selected by the Montreal Canadiens in the first round of the 1991 NHL Entry Draft (17th Overall). Bilodeau is married to former WNBA player Cass Bauer-Biledeau.

2008-09 season ticket packages are selling now at (702) 471-PUCK. The Wranglers play all 36 regular season home games at the Orleans Arena, located at the Orleans Hotel and Casino at 4500 W. Tropicana Avenue. Opening night is scheduled for Thursday, October 23rd at the Orleans Arena.
