Charlotte Checkers News Release
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Charlotte Checkers are pleased to announce that the team received the award for "Excellence in Marketing" for the American Conference at the ECHL league meetings held in Las Vegas.
Celebrating their 15th anniversary as a member of the ECHL in 2007-08, the Checkers used the theme of "Our Team, Our Town" to continue to capitalize on event-based marketing initiatives, community outreach and quality customer service in one of the league's largest markets. It is the second year in a row that Charlotte has been recognized with the award. The winners are selected by Princeton Communications Group in Pennington, N.J.
The Checkers highlighted their marketing campaign this season with their Pink in the Rink event, Salute to Heroes Night, Race Night and several community events.
Vice president of the Charlotte Checkers, Tera Black was thrilled with the recognition by the league, "This award is such a nice reminder of the hard work the staff puts in all season on our marketing initiatives. We have a great crew of talented and dedicated individuals and this award speaks volume of the Checkers commitment to excellence. We are looking forward to the 2008-09 season where we can once again raise the bar to provide our fans with the best entertainment value in town"
"The marketing of excellence award is presented to a member team who displays the complete marketing package that transcends the garden variety campaigns. Charlotte continues to lead the way in creative and innovative marketing strategies that reach out to the local community through non-traditional and effective mediums," remarked ECHL senior vice president of marketing/business development, Glen Thornborough. "This is the second year Charlotte has been awarded this honor and we look forward to having them top themselves next season."
