Florida Fire Frogs News Release
KISSIMMEE, FL: A career-high five RBI night for Fort Myers Miracle left-fielder Trevor Larnach paved the way for a series-clinching 7-1 victory over the Florida Fire Frogs on Wednesday evening at Osceola County Stadium.
The 20th pick in last year's draft went 3-4 with the career-high RBI total and came up a triple short of the cycle.
Ryan Jeffers delivered the first tally of the game with two outs in the first, an RBI double to the left-field corner. This followed an infield single from Larnach that extended the inning.
A sacrifice fly from Larnach in the fifth plated Hunter Lee to bump the Miracle edge to 2-0.
Lee went 1-3 with a walk and two runs scored in his Advanced-A debut.
Fort Myers put three more runs on the board off RHP Freddy Tarnok in the seventh to give themselves a more comfortable 5-0 lead. Larnach knocked Tarnok out of the game with a bases loaded two-run double. Jose Miranda put one in play against RHP Bradley Roney to score Lewin Diaz.
Tarnok (1-4) made it through 6 and 1/3's innings, surrendering nine hits, five earned runs, two walks, and mixed in four strikeouts while throwing 100 pitches for the second time this season. Roney allowed an inherited runner to score, but he shutout the Miracle over five outs.
Jefrey Ramos got the Fire Frogs on the board in the seventh with a big fly over the fence in left, his sixth of the year, to trim the Fort Myers lead to 5-1. That homer extended his hitting streak to six.
The long ball was the only mistake that RHP Blayne Enlow yielded. Enlow (1-0) scattered four hits and five Ks in six stanzas in his Advanced-A debut. RHP Joe Record and RHP Anthony Vizcaya kept Florida off the board the rest of the way.
Larnach launched a two-run missile out of the park against RHP Daysbel Hernandez in the ninth to wrap up the scoring.
Shean Michel had a fine night out of the nine-hole for Florida. In his first game back from Double-A Mississippi, he went 2-3 with a single and a triple. Riley Delgado went hitless, but moved his on-base streak to six games by drawing a walk in the third.
NEXT UP: Florida will try to prevent a sweep at noon on Thursday. The FSL's ERA leader LHP Hayden Deal (2-3, 1.50) faces off with fellow southpaw LHP Tyler Watson (1-4, 4.43). Fans can purchase a slushie or canned beer for regular price and get an additional one free.
