AUSTIN, Texas - The defending CHL President's Cup Champion Laredo Bucks got a pair of goals from rookie forward Bobby Chaumont as they beat the Austin Ice Bats 2-1 at the Chaparell Ice Center on Sunday night. The Bucks tied a franchise record with their 21st road win of the season as Laredo remains a Southern Conference best 41-16-5 and they are second in the CHL with 87 total points in the race for the Governors' Cup. Laredo took advantage of Austin penalty trouble in the first period and scored on a two-man advantage. Forward Leo Thomas slipped the puck to the top of the crease where Chaumont shoveled it into the back of the net at 18:31 for his 25th of the season.

In the second period Austin tied the game on a rush. Forward John McNabb slipped home the puck at 5:06 to even the game at 1-1.

In the third period Laredo broke the deadlock. On a power play chance Chaumont took a pass in the right circle and went top shelf with a wrister high stick side at 10:39 to give the Bucks a 2-1 lead with his second of the night. Austin pulled the goalie, but Laredo held on for the win to post a 10-1-1 record against the Bats in 06-07. FINAL SCORE Laredo 2, Austin 1.

Kevin Reiter stopped 26 of 27 shots and got the win to improve to 16-6-1. Miguel Beaudry allowed two goals on 33 shots and fell to 12-12-11. The Bucks were 2-6 on the power play while Austin went 0-4. The Bucks out shot the Ice Bats 33-27.
