Texas AirHogs News Release

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas - The AirHogs fell to the Laredo Lemurs in a 1-0 pitcher's duel at AirHogs Stadium Monday. Starter Diego Ibarra scattered 8 hits and surrendered 1 run over 7 innings, but the AirHogs bats could not break through against Laredo pitching.

Getting the ball for the first time this season, Ibarra, who won 10 games this past spring at Tennessee Wesleyan, stranded 6 over the first 5 innings, including the bases loaded in the 5th, in a superb professional debut. Denis Phipps tagged him for a solo home run in the 4th, crossing as the game's only run. The blast was the 16th of the season for the former member of the Cincinnati Reds.

The AirHogs managed just 1 hit off Laredo starter Gabe Perez. Devon Rodriguez doubled off the righty to start the bottom of the 2nd but was left in scoring position. Juan Sanchez was hit by a Perez delivery in the 4th, but, after stealing 2nd, was left on 3rd to end the frame. Perez struck out 10 in 6 innings on the way to his first W of the season.

Mike Miller singled off closer Alex De La Cruz to start the bottom of the 9th, but would become the 3rd left in scoring position for the AirHogs as De La Cruz notched his 2nd save of the season.

The AirHogs (26-47) and the Lemurs (41-22) meet again tomorrow at 7:05. RHP Carlos Misell is expected to start for the AirHogs.

A live radio broadcast will be available at mixlr.com/TXAirHogs.
