Lansing Gets Past Bees in 15

(Burlington-IA) Dawell Lugo hit a bases loaded single driving in the winning run for the Lugnuts, in the 15th inning, defeating the Bees, 3-2, on Sunday afternoon at Community Field.

Burlington kicked off the scoring in the first inning. Angel Rosa reached on an infield single and would move to third on an Eric Aguilera double. Stephen McGee hit a fly ball to center field, driving in Rosa, giving the Bees a 1-0 lead.

A wild pitch ended up putting the Lugnuts on the board in the fifth, as Chaz Frank scored from third, making it a 1-1 game.

Bees starter Harrison Cooney pitched five innings allowing an unearned run and struck out seven batters.

Lansing grabbed the lead in the seventh as Daniel Klein scampered into score on a passed ball, making it 2-1 Lugnuts.

Erick Salcedo pinch hit in the bottom of the ninth and reached on a fielding error. After a Ranyelmy Mendoza sacrifice bunt and an Ismael Dionicio groundout, Mike Fish shot a single into center, scoring Salcedo, making it a 2-2 game and sending it to extra innings.

For the second straight game, the Bees and the Lugnuts played extra innings. After playing 14 innings on Saturday, the Bees and the Lugnuts played 15 on Sunday. Dawell Lugo drove in the winning in run in the top of the 15th, scoring Derrick Loveless.

The loss snaps the Bees' three game winning streak. Lugnuts reliever, Francisco Gracesqui (1-0) earned the win while Alex Blackford (0-3) was charged with the loss.

The Burlington Bees (57-47) and the Lansing Lugnuts (49-55) wrap up their three game series Monday for Dollar Monday at 6:30 PM.
