RALSTON, NE - Hours prior to the team's first practice of the season and with their home opener just over three weeks away, the Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League (USHL) released their 26-man training camp roster for the 2013-14 season, the Lancers' second campaign at the state-of-the-art Ralston Arena and 28th season of USHL play overall, on Wednesday.

Included on the first iteration of the 2013-14 Lancers roster are eleven returning players from the 2012-13 season, including Omaha's leading scorer from a year ago, future Nebraska-Omaha Maverick Jake Randolph (13G, 31A - 44 PTS). In addition, the 2013-14 season marks the return to the Lancers of North Dakota commit and 2012 NHL Draft pick Tucker Poolman (5th round, 127th overall, Winnipeg Jets) and Omaha natives Gage Hough and Trey Olson.

"We feel good about where we are heading into training camp," said Lancers Head Coach and General Manager Brian Kaufman on Wednesday. "We've got a strong nucleus of returners and we've brought in some talented younger players that we expect to perform well for us."

Among those highly touted youngsters is B=E5lsta, Sweden's Jakob Forsbacka-Karlsson. A 6'1", 185 lb. forward, Forsbacka-Karlsson notched a combined 64 points (29G, 35A) in 2012-13 in a combined 77 games played for Linkoping's J18 and J20 teams and Sweden's U17 and U18 national junior squads.

"JFK is a skilled guy and we're excited about his potential," explained Lancers Assistant general Manager and Director of Scouting Rick Comley, Jr. on Wednesday. "We're excited about what he'll bring to our team both at even strength and on the power-play."

In addition to Forsbacka-Karlsson, fellow Swede Niklas Folin returns to the Lancers' defensive corps in 2013-14 along with fellow import players Luca Frigo (Luserna San Giovanni, Italy), a 6'0", 187 lb. forward committed to Minnesota State University-Mankato, and rookie Finnish goaltender Atte Tolvanen.

Additional returning players include forwards Nash Worden, Alex Rauter, Ryan Tait, Tyler Hynes and Drew Melanson, along with netminder Cole Bruns. A native of Prairie Grove, Illinois, Bruns posted an 8-8-0-1 record in 18 appearances for the Lancers last season with a 2.81 goals-against average and .904 save percentage while serving as the backup to former Lancers goaltender and current Yale backstop Alex Lyon.

"[Bruns] was solid for us last year," said Kaufman, "He performed well when called upon and we're confident that he can take on a bigger role for us this season."
