Omaha Lancers News Release

FARGO, ND. - The Omaha Lancers stayed overnight in Fargo for a rematch tonight (2/17) with the Force after falling by a score of 4-2 in last night's contest.

Mikhail Yegorov played one of his best games of the season, only allowing three goals on 50 shots faced in the loss. And he was looking to repeat his stellar performance tonight as the Lancers looked to split the weekend series.

Both teams found themselves in the same position as yesterday, in a scoreless first period.

Fargo had the control as they logged nine shots to the Lancers' two, with four of them coming while on the man advantage.

Christian Kocsis opened up the scoring just over two minutes into the second period with a shot through traffic, beating Fargo Goaltender, Anton Castro blocker side for the 1-0 lead or Omaha. Charlie Lieberman and Gabe Keene got in on the assists for Lieberman's fifth and Kenne's third.

The Force would bounce back seven minutes later to even the game up with a power-play goal from Zam Plante. Good for his 20th goal of the season with Michael Quinn and Mac Swanson being the play makers. That tally would be the first and only goal coming on the man advantage between the two teams this weekend.

Fargo would then score again at the 12:06 mark of the middle frame with a 60-footer from Brian Lonergan for his first of the season through 37 games played. Brasen Boser picked up the primary assist with Zam Plante notching the secondary on the play, giving him a multi-point evening and making it a 2-1 lead for the Force.

Just like game one of the weekend series, Fargo would strike in the first minute of the third period. This time it would be Boser with his second point of the night, fourth goal of the season as the defenseman netted what would be the game-winner, making it a 3-1 game. Quinn and Plante once again were the play makers. Moving Plante to a three-point night (1G-2A-3P) and Quinn to a two-point game (0G-2A-2P).

The Lancers found the back of the net in the closing minutes with the extra attacker when Will Elger netted a goal after a series of passes from Lucas Brennan and Jamison Sluys to pull Omaha back within a goal. However, following a late Omaha penalty, they were unable to pull the goaltender again, and would fall to Fargo by a score of 3-2.

Mikhail Yegorov had another great performance in net. Turning aside 41 of 44 shots faced, moving him to a 0.936 save percentage on the weekend.

The Lancers will be back in action on Friday, February 23rd for another game with the Force, but this time at Liberty First Credit Union Arena. Puck drop is set for 7:05PM CST. That game can be streamed on FloSports and Mixlr.
