WATERLOO, IA - Louie Rowe scored in the first period and Kris Oldham stopped 28 of 29 shots as the Omaha Lancers defeated the Waterloo Black Hawks in a shootout, 2-1 on Sunday night to extend their win streak to six games in front of 1,896 fan sat Young Arena.
In the first period Omaha got on the board to take the lead. Nick Rivera started a rush through the neutral zone with a pass to Anthony Angello down the right wing wall. Angello moved into the offensive zone as Louie Rowe joined and moved into the left wing circle. Rowe waited in that circle as Angello let a pass go through the hash marks and Rowe let a one-timer go that beat a sprawling Cale Morris to give the Lancers a 1-0 lead at 14:30 of the opening period. Angello picked up his 13th assist on the season while Rivera was credited with his 11th helper.
In the third period Alex Robert tied the game late in regulation for the Black Hawks. Robert took the puck through the neutral zone and moved into the offensive zone right wing circle and let a hard wrist shot go that beat goaltender Kris Oldham to even the score 1-1 with only 2:01 left in the game. The goal was Robert's first goal of the year and eventually forced overtime.
After no scoring in the extra time the game was decided in a shootout. In the third round of the shootout Anthony Angello put the Lancers ahead with a backhander over the right leg pad of Cale Morris. Kris Oldham then denied Tyler Sheehy in the final attempt for the 2-1 victory and the extra point. With the win, Omaha took all three games this weekend and extended their win streak to six games. Kris Oldham stopped 28 of 29 shots on the night.
