Omaha Lancers News Release

The Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League (USHL) return home this weekend to the Omaha Civic Auditorium for a pair of contests against East Division opponents. First, the Lancers (17-3, 34 Pts.) welcome Team USA's Under-18 squad for a 7:05 PM face off this Friday evening. USA (a combination of the U17 & U18 programs) enters the week currently 7th in the East Division with a 4-13-2 overall record and just 10 standings points. While Team USA as a program has notched just four wins in USHL competition, the U18 squad has recorded three of those victories posting a 3-2-1 record in six games against USHL teams this season. Most recently, the U18 squad saw its three-game winning streak against USHL competition come to an end following a 6-3 setback two weeks ago at the hands of the Fargo Force. Following a match-up with the Red, White and Blue on Friday, the Lancers then have a quick turnaround as they welcome the Indiana Ice to the Omaha Civic Auditorium for a 3:05 PM face off on Saturday. Indiana enters USHL action this week tied for 2nd in the East with 23 standings points thanks to an 11-6-1 overall record. Indiana saw its four-game winning streak snapped last Saturday with a 5-2 loss in Waterloo. Still, the Ice have reeled off victories in four of their last five games and five of seven overall. Indiana's weekend road trip begins with stops in Sioux Falls and Des Moines before wrapping up in Omaha on Saturday.

NEWS & NOTES FOR THE WEEKEND

Lancers' forward Matt White is currently in the midst of the USHL's longest point streak having registered at least one point in each of his last 16 games overall. During that stretch, the 3rd-year Lancer from Whittier, California has registered 14 goals, 23 assists and 37 points. White's streak is the longest such run in the USHL since Mike Erickson's 21-game point streak in 2004.

In addition to leading all USHL skaters in points (37), White is also currently tied for the lead league in goals (14) and is pacing all USHLers in +/- rating (+21) and shots (90).

With White and Erik Haula, the Lancers are the only USHL club to currently boast two 30-point scorers. The Chicago Steel and Waterloo Black Hawks are the only teams that currently have two or more 20-point producers on their roster.

Omaha has registered at least one power play goal in each of its last 18 games overall. The Lancers power play currently ranks 2nd among all USHL teams at 25.6% while registering the league's highest number of power play goals (30).

When Team USA's U18 squad hits the ice Friday evening, it will display five potential first round draft picks for the 2010 NHL Draft in defensemen Derek Forbort, Jarred Tinordi, Jon Merrill and Stephen Johns along with goaltender Jack Campbell.
