
Lancers Acquire Michael Hrabal from Dubuque

OMAHA, NE. - The Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League have announced the acquisition of Affiliate Goaltender, Michael Hrabal (2005) from the Dubuque Fighting Saints. The Lancers also accepted a 2023 Phase I, 9th round and a 2024 Phase I, 10th round draft pick in exchange for a 2023 Phase I, 2nd round, a 2024 Phase I, 5th round and a 2024 Phase II, 1st round draft pick.
Michael Hrabal, of Praha, Czechia, comes to the Lancers at the young age of 17 years old, with both U20 and international play under his belt leading into the 2022-23 season. With his impressive experience, he will also enter the United States Hockey League as one of the largest netminders, coming in at 6'6"and 201 lbs.
Since the 2018-19 season, Hrabal played in the HC Sparta Praha Hockey Program in Czechia where he notched elite statistics. He played for the HC Sparta Praha U16 team as a 14-year-old, followed by playing U17 as a 15-year-old just a year later where he continued for two and a half seasons. While there, he put up a combined goals against average (GAA) of 2.39 and a save percentage (SV%) of 0.927.
Part of the way through his third season with the U17 squad at the age of 17, he hopped all the way up the HC Sparta Praha's U20 team where he was even more impressive.
Hrabal's performance through 24 games played with the U20 squad led him to a 2.14 GAA, a 0.936 SV% and a record of 18-3-0-0 in the regular season. His stellar play lasted into his playoff experience with 16 cumulative games played with a 2.59 GAA, and a 0.929 SV%.
Recently, the University of Massachusetts - Amherst commit participated in the 2023 Hlinka Gretzky Cup where he continued to thrive with a 4-2-0-0 record through six games played, tallying a 2.83 GAA and a 0.911 SV% in the process.
With Hrabal's great statistics through multiple years of elite level hockey in his home country, he is ranked one of the best goaltenders with a 2005 birth year in the world and is expected to be the top-rated goalie at the 2023 NHL Draft.
