Omaha Lancers News Release

OMAHA, NE - The Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League have announced the acquisition of Goaltender, Cameron Korpi (2004) from the Muskegon Lumberjacks in exchange for a 2022 Phase II, 5th round draft pick.

With the transaction just being complete, the initial trade was made back on May 3rd, 2022 during the 2022 USHL Phase II Draft with the Lancers receiving future considerations in exchange of the draft pick. Korpi fulfilled the future considerations this week.

Korpi, of South Lyon, Michigan, completed this past season with the Muskegon Lumberjacks of the United States Hockey League. And after a rocky start to the season as a team, Korpi and the Lumberjacks rounded out to being the #3 seed in the eastern conference heading into the 2022 Clark Cup Playoffs.

The Western Michigan University commit had a phenomenal stretch of play from late October to the end of January, going 4-0-1-1 in the three and a half month stretch, with a 2.22 goals against average, a 0.910 save percentage and a shutout.

With Muskegon having a variety of goaltenders come in and out of their organization throughout the 2021-22 season, Korpi was one of seven netminders that the Lumberjacks placed between the pipes. Korpi ended up finishing in third place in statistics amongst Muskegon goaltenders, ending the season with a 3.75 goals against average, an 0.862 save percentage, one shutout, and a 4-5-1-2 record.

Prior to his time in Muskegon, Korpi played four seasons in Little Caesars' AAA program out of Detroit, Michigan, coming out with an impressive 1.76 goals against average, a 0.917 save percentage and 11 shutouts in that four-year span.

He also found a good deal of success in the North American Hockey League, where he spent a portion of the 2020-21 season with the Bismarck Bobcats. Notching a 2.07 goals against average, a 0.926 save percentage, two shutouts, and a 9-3-2 record throughout the regular season before going undefeated in three postseason starts. Korpi finished out the 2020-21 season with a brief stint with Team USA before being picked up by the Lumberjacks.
