LANCASTER, Calif. - Minor League Baseball has announced that M.P. Cokinos has been named the California League Offensive Player of the Week for the week of June 17-23.

In a week shortened by the All-Star Break, Cokinos hit .545 (6-for-11) with two doubles, one home run and five RBI in four games. He scored seven runs, walked four times and struck out just once to help the JetHawks to a four game sweep of the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes at The Hangar.

At the start of play on Tuesday, Cokinos' .339 batting average is the highest in the California League amongst players with enough plate appearances to qualify for the league batting title.

Along with his hot hitting during the week, Cokinos also celebrated with 23rd birthday on Tuesday, June 18.

The Astros 31st round pick in 2012 out of St. Mary's University in Texas has consistently hit in the cleanup spot in the JetHawks order and, recently, has been in the lineup at either first base or as the designated hitter.

Cokinos is the fourth Lancaster hitter to earn the Offensive Player of the Week award. Third baseman Matt Duffy (April 4-15) and outfielders Andrew Aplin (May 20-26) and Preston Tucker (May 27-June 2) were recognized for outstanding weeks at the plate earlier in the season. Right-hander Brady Rodgers (May 27-June 2) is the lone JetHawks pitcher to earn the Pitcher of the Week award.
