Madison Capitols News Release

Middleton, WI - Madison Capitols goaltender, Joseph Lamoreaux, announced his commitment to St. Cloud State on Sunday. Lamoreaux becomes the 13th Capitol on the active roster with a college commitment, and second of the season.

"I got to go visit the campus and meet all the coaches," said Lamoreaux. "It felt right. It felt like home. It's a place I can see myself spending four years of my life."

The native of Shorewood, Wisconsin is in his second year with the Capitols and is living up to his potential. Lamoreaux played youth hockey in the Milwaukee Admirals organization, posting a .929 save percentage and above in three seasons with the U16 and U18 teams.

Following outstanding years in Milwaukee, Lamoreaux was drafted in the 6th round of the 2016 USHL Entry Draft by Madison. Last season, Lamoreaux played in 17 games while making nearly 90% of saves.

"Hit confidence and conditioning has been the biggest change for Joe," says head coach Garrett Suter. "He's more consistent and he's ready for games because of his confidence and conditioning. The way he's played, it boosts that confidence even more and you can tell by the trend of his outings.

This year, he has flourished, giving up less than two and a half goals per game and stopping 92.8% of the shots he sees, good for second in the league.

"It took some time to get used to the league last year. I've been given some more opportunities this year. Hit it hard this summer and had good training. It's all paid off," explains Lamoreaux.

With the commitment, Lamoreaux becomes the first Capitols player become a St. Cloud State Husky, but gets to reconnect with former assistant coach TJ Jindra.

Lamoreaux and the Capitols will be back at Bob Suter's Capitols Ice Arena this Friday, November 16th at 7:05 pm for a matchup with the Chicago Steel.

Don't miss out on any of the action this season as the Capitols embark on their 5th season in the USHL. Ticket packages, suites, and group outing are available now at www.madcapshockey.com or by calling the front office at (608) 257-2277.
