Lalas Abubakar Named to MLS Team of the Week After Finding Equalizer at Real Salt Lake

Colorado Rapids defender Lalas Abubakar earned a spot on the league's Team of the Week Starting XI on Monday after his 89th-minute volley found the back of the net in Sandy, Utah this weekend.

Abubakar got on the end of a Gyasi Zardes header into the box on Saturday night to give the Rapids the equalizer against RSL and end the game at 2-2. The game marked his third of the season and second in as many games in July.

His equalizer was his second against Salt Lake this year after finding the back of the net at DICK'S Sporting Goods Park in the sides' first meeting to end the game in a 1-1 draw.

The Rapids are back home for a midweek matchup against Orlando City SC on Wednesday at DSGP. Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM at altitude.
