
Lakers assign Wafer to Flyers

EL SEGUNDO, Calif., February 27 - The Los Angeles Lakers have assigned guard Von Wafer to the Fort Worth Flyers of the NBA Development League, it was announced today by General Manager Mitch Kupchak.
Wafer was selected by the Lakers in the second round of the 2005 NBA Draft with the 39th pick overall. He has appeared in 16 games, averaging 1.3 points and 0.5 rebounds in 4.6 minutes.
He is the fourth NBA player to be assigned to a D-League team in the last three days. That list also includes Julius Hodge from Denver to Austin, Amir Johnson from Detroit to Fayetteville and Josh Powell from Dallas to Fort Worth.
Nine of the 24 NBA-assigned players are currently active in the D-League. Wafer is the first player from the Lakers to be assigned to an NBA D-League team and the fifth to be designated to Fort Worth. He will join Powell as NBA players currently on the Flyers roster.
