
Lakeland Magic Host Second Annual 5K on October 5

The Lakeland Magic will tip off the season with the second annual Lakeland Magic 5K and invite fans to experience this unique opportunity with family, friends or co-workers. A primary focus for the organization is Health and Fitness and providing a way for the community to participate in an event that encourages fans to stay active is important. The 5K is unique in that participants will cross the finish line at the Magic's center court within the RP Funding Center.
"A core focus of the Lakeland Magic is encouraging health and fitness in the community and we look forward to making the Lakeland Magic 5K an annual event here in Lakeland. We have the opportunity to provide a unique route for participants to experience around RP Funding Center and finishing at center court." said Lakeland Magic President, Shelly Wilkes.
Lakeland Magic 5K participants will run or walk alongside Lakeland Magic mascot, Swish. Each 5k runner will receive an official Lakeland Magic 5K finishers medal and t-shirt. All kids 18 & under will also receive a Magic branded youth basketball. After crossing the finish line, participants will be included in a post-race awards ceremony on the Lakeland Magic center court including awards provided to the top three male and female runners. Overall awards will be based on clock gun time and age-group awards will be based on chip time. The timed 5K will be facilitated in partnership with FITniche Lakeland.
All participants will also receive a ticket to Lakeland Magic home opener in November.
