
Lakeland Magic Announce 2019 Open Tryouts

The Lakeland Magic, the NBA G League affiliate of the Orlando Magic, have announced the open tryout dates for the 2019-20 season which will be held on Sat., Sept. 28 from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the Auburndale Community Center (405 Bennett St., Auburndale, FL 33823) and Sun., Sept. 29 from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at Orlando Sports Center (6700 Kingspointe Parkway, Orlando, FL 32819). Local player tryouts provide athletes the chance to showcase their skills in front of Lakeland Magic coaches and staff. G League teams can invite up to four local tryout players to training camp for an opportunity to compete for a roster spot.
Former local player tryout success stories include Jeremiah Hill, a 2018 local tryout participant who appeared in 44 games for the Lakeland Magic last season. Hill was also invited to NBA Summer League with the Orlando Magic. Kevin Foster, a Polk County native and 2017 local tryout participant who appeared in 23 games for the Lakeland Magic during the 2017-18 season.
Players interested in trying out can pre-register until Sept. 25 at lakelandmagic.com/opentryouts. All required registration and release forms, along with a $175 non-refundable fee, must be completed in order to be considered. The $175 registration fee can be made in advance with a credit card online, or with a cashier's check/money order in the mail. Walk-ups are accepted with a registration fee of $200 and cash is accepted on the day of the tryout.
Availability is on a first-come, first-served basis and the number of participants are limited at each location. All participants must meet the NBA G League eligibility requirement. Walkup registration is subject to availability and a $200 non-refundable fee.
