BURLINGTON, VT --- Monday night's New York-Penn League game between the Vermont Lake Monsters and Staten Island Yankees was postponed due to wet grounds at historic Centennial Field.

The tarp came off the infield at Centennial about 5:00 pm on Monday and the Lake Monsters groundscrew worked for over three hours trying to get the field ready, but the field was finally deemed to be unplayable and the game was postponed at 8:30.

The teams will make up the game later this season when the Lake Monsters and Yankees play at Staten Island in the final series of the regular-season September 3-5.

Anyone with tickets for Monday's game can exchange those tickets for any future Lake Monsters home game. The tickets can be exchanged in person at the Lake Monsters front office at the King Street Ferry Dock during office hours or at the Centennial Field ticket office before any Vermont home game.

Vermont (21-9) heads out on a three-game roadtrip to Connecticut beginning on Tuesday. The Lake Monsters will open the series with a six-game lead over the Tigers in the Stedler Division. Vermont returns home to Centennial Field on Friday to open a seven-game, eight-day homestand.
