Lake Erie Assigns Lauridsen to Cutthroats

DENVER, CO - The Denver Cutthroats announced today rookie defenseman Markus Lauridsen has been assigned to the team by their AHL affiliate, the Lake Erie Monsters.

Lauridsen (LORE-ihd-sehn) will be in the lineup tonight for the Cutthroats' preseason contest against the Rapid City Rush. He is the third player assigned to the Cutthroats by the Monsters this preseason.

The 21-year-old began the preseason in training camp with the Monsters after completing a two-year junior career with the United States Hockey League's Green Bay Gamblers where he won the 2012 Clark Cup championship and registered 40 points in 102 total games (11 goals, 29 assists).

The 6-foot-1, 200-pound blueliner hails from Hellerup, Denmark and represented his home country in the World Junior Championships each of the past four years. He claimed a silver medal in 2008-09 and 2009-10, then captured a gold medal in 2011-12. Lauridsen was also named the tournament's "Best Defenseman" in 2008-09.

The Cutthroats play a pair of preseason games against Rapid City tonight and tomorrow before facing the Tulsa Oilers on Sunday in Dodge City, Kansas. Friday and Saturday's contests will be broadcast live at http://www.denvercutthroats.com.

The Fish begin their inaugural season on October 19 and 20 against the visiting Missouri Mavericks.
