
Opening Weekend Bash to Kick off Thunder's 21st Season

Wichita, KS (October 12th) - For the second-straight year, the Wichita Thunder will kick off their season with a bang, announcing plans for the Opening Weekend Block Party. The team also announced an exciting ticket offer for fans that attend both games as the Thunder opens their 21st season in the CHL on Friday, October 19th against the Quad City Mallards and Saturday, October 20th against the Tulsa Oilers.
The Junior Thunder will play their first game ever at INTRUST Bank Arena to start the festivities when they host the Tulsa Junior Oilers on Saturday, October 20th at 3 p.m. Fans that purchase a ticket for the Thunder game will have access to watch the Junior Thunder and also be able to leave the arena for the Block Party. At 4 p.m., come party on the Plaza and wear your Thunder blue to celebrate the start of another great season ahead. Added to this year's fun and excitement is a huge, outdoor beer garden, the Thunder tailgate Man Cave, a meet and greet with your favorite Thunder players, a mobile game den featuring amazing decorations, light displays, 60 game multi-cade and more. There will be a DJ spinning hits and taking requests, kids tailgate with face painting, spirit hair and inflatables, hot dogs and canned Pepsi products for just $1, and much more.
To commemorate the start of a new season, every fan that purchases a ticket for Friday AND Saturday will receive a customized Thunder t-shirt. Fans that purchase an Opening Weekend package will receive a voucher that they can redeem at the Fan Relations booth at the Thunder game. In order to be eligible for this great offer, fans must call the Thunder office to get their voucher. All season ticket holders will have a voucher with their season ticket package and can be picked up Saturday, October 13th. Shirts are subject to availability.
The Thunder will conclude training camp tomorrow when they host the Tulsa Oilers for an exhibition game at the Wichita Ice Center at 3 p.m. The office will be open at 9 a.m. to allow fans and season ticket holders to get tickets for Opening Weekend. After the game, there will be a meet and greet with the players. Fans that buy a ticket can also stay and support the Junior Thunder as they host the Dallas Ice Jets at 7 p.m. Tickets are just $10 and are available at the Thunder office only.
