Lake County Captains News Release
(Comstock Park, MI) - The Lake County Captains broke a 2-2 tie with the West Michigan Whitecaps in the top of the sixth as Connor Kokx struck a three-run homer over the left-center field wall. Lightning then struck which delayed the game. Rain then poured down and a decision was made to suspend the game and continue it tomorrow afternoon Sunday August 21st.
Rodney Boone got the call for Lake County and completed five innings. The left-hander allowed the game's first run, a solo homer in the first. The rest of his day saw only one more run, a RBI single in the third. Boone finished his day striking out the side in the fifth and totaled five punchouts.
Despite only batting in five innings, the Captains offensively had five extra base hits. Aaron Bracho in the second inning drove home Petey Halpin with an RBI double. In the fifth, Bracho began the inning with a double and then was plated by Korey Holland on a triple. The ball sailed over right fielder Jake Holton's head and one-hopped the wall. Those two runs were against West Michigan starter Keider Montero.
The continuation of tonight's game and then the final game of the six-game set between Lake County and West Michigan is tomorrow Sunday, August 21 with first pitch at 1:00 p.m.
Coverage of the games can be found on WJCU.org/Captains and the MiLB First Pitch app.
