LAFC's Diego Rossi Named to 2020 MLS Best XI

The Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) and Major League Soccer's leading goalscorer Diego Rossi has been voted to the 2020 MLS Best XI presented by The Home Depot for the first time in his career, the league announced today. MLS revealed the Best XI for the regular season, recognizing the league's top players at each position as determined by media, MLS players and MLS club technical staff.

The Best XI selection marks Rossi's sixth individual award of the year, as he also captured the AT&T MLS Young Player of the Year award, the regular season Golden Boot, as well as a trio of honors at the MLS is Back Tournament. Rossi took home the tournament's Golden Boot presented by Audi, before being voted the Young Player of the Tournament presented by AT&T 5G and selected to the tournament's Best XI presented by BODYARMOR.

In his third year with the Black & Gold, Rossi led the team and league with 14 goals in 2020, becoming the youngest player in MLS history to win the Golden Boot. During the MLS is Back Tournament, Rossi was involved in five goals (four goals, one assist) in LAFC's 6-2 win over the Galaxy, becoming the first-ever player to have played a part in five goals in two separate games, and the 13th player to score at least four goals in a game.

After signing as a Young Designated Player from Peñarol in his native Uruguay ahead of the Club's inaugural season in 2018, Rossi has scored 42 goals and 20 assists in 85 MLS appearances, with double figures in goals in each of his three years in the league.

The 11 players named to the Best XI hail from seven different countries and represent some of the league's most exciting and accomplished talent comprised of Homegrown talents, international stars and breakout players. Seven different MLS clubs are represented by this year's Best XI squad, all of which qualified for the Audi 2020 MLS Cup Playoffs - and for the first time in MLS history, three Homegrown Players have also been selected to the Best XI.

Forwards: Jordan Morris (Seattle Sounders FC), Diego Rossi (Los Angeles Football Club), Raúl Ruidíaz (Seattle Sounders FC)
