LAFC to Debut Fully Vaccinated Supporter Section for Saturday's Match against Seattle
April 23, 2021 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Los Angeles FC News Release
The Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) announced today that they will debut the Club's first fully vaccinated-only section for members of the 3252 Independent Supporters Union in the North End for their upcoming match with Seattle Sounders FC on Saturday, April 24. The Club has also partnered with the LA County Department of Public Health to host an on-site, pre-game vaccination clinic for a limited number of fans, with the support of USC Pharmacy and the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
For the first time since the beginning of the pandemic more than 400 days ago, fans in the vaccinated-only section at Banc of California Stadium will have the opportunity to cheer and lock arms without having to maintain physical distance. LAFC has been working with LA County Department of Public Health to ensure the safety of all fans. Masking will still be required at all times - except when eating and drinking in seats, and physical distancing must be maintained when outside of the fully vaccinated section.
To secure a seat in this section, fans 16 and older will be required to provide documentation showing that at least two weeks have passed since a final vaccination dose. Children from 2 to 15 years of age will be required to show proof they have tested negative for COVID-19 within 72 hours of admission to Banc of California Stadium.
"We are excited to host a fully vaccinated-only section with the 3252. This can show us all how we can eventually start to get back to experiencing events in the way we used to," said LAFC Co-President and CBO Larry Freedman. "We hope this encourages everyone to get vaccinated so we can all safely return to the Banc as soon as possible."
In addition to the fully vaccinated section, the Club has partnered with the LA County Department of Health to host an on-site vaccination clinic for a limited number of fans and community members. The vaccination clinic will administer doses of the vaccine at the Peristyle in Exposition Park before the match, while supplies last on a first come, first serve basis. "LAFC has been an extraordinary partner throughout the pandemic, and we couldn't be more excited to work with them to get more people vaccinated," said Public Health Director, LA County Department of Health, Dr. Barbara Ferrer. "Getting as many people vaccinated as possible is critical to the recovery of our community and our economy, and thanks to partners like LAFC that are committed to the safety of their fans, there is a beacon of hope for defeating this pandemic."
LAFC returns to action on Saturday, April 24 when it takes on the defending Western Conference Champion Seattle Sounders FC at Banc of California Stadium. The match kicks off at 3:00 p.m. PT and will be broadcast live on ESPN.
