Los Angeles FC News Release
The Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) opens postseason play against Real Salt Lake on Thursday, November 1 at Banc of California Stadium. The Western Conference Knockout Round contest will kick off at 7:30 p.m. PT and will be broadcast on ESPN2 and UniMás, as well as on ESPN 710 and 980 AM 'La Mera Mera'.
The Black & Gold will look to become only the second expansion team to win a game in their first trip to the MLS Cup Playoffs. One of five expansion clubs to reach the postseason in Year One, the only team to win in the playoffs was the 1998 Chicago Fire - coached by Bob Bradley.
LAFC finished the 2018 regular season in third place in the Western Conference with a 16-9-9 record, while setting an all-time record in points (57) for an expansion team in its inaugural campaign.
Tomorrow night's match will mark the third meeting between LAFC and RSL in 2018 after the clubs met twice during the regular season. Diego Rossi became just the sixth player in MLS history to be involved in five goals in a single game, scoring two goals and assisting on three during LAFC's 5-1 win on March 10 at Rio Tinto Stadium. Five months later, Christian RamÃrez would find the back of the net twice in LAFC's 2-0 victory over RSL on August 15 at Banc of California Stadium.
