
Lacasse stands strong in net as PrairieThunder wins

Rookie Loic Lacasse recorded the first shutout in Bloomington PrairieThunder history and his first professional shutout by stopping 33 shots Saturday night in a 2-0 victory over Port Huron in International Hockey League action before 3,825 people at U.S. Cellular Coliseum.
Lacasse and the PrairieThunder have won three straight games, and four of its last five, to push Bloomington's record to 14-19-2-1 (31 points). In the three victories this week, Lacasse stopped 113 shots and allowed only eight goals for a .934 save percentage.
Lacasse has an 8-9-1-1.
Jon Booras put the PrairieThunder in front with what proved to be his fourth game-winning goal of the season when he scored with 9:27 remaining in the first period off assists from Rod Aldoff and Leo Thomas on a power play.
The PrairieThunder extended the lead to 2-0 in the second period when Bobby Kukulka scored his second goal in as many games off assists from Donnie Margettie and Pascal Bedard.
The IceHawks outshot the PrairieThunder, 33-24, but were unsuccessful on eight power plays. Bloomington converted one of five.
The PrairieThunder returns to action with back-to-back homes games against Flint beginning Friday at U.S. Cellular Coliseum at 7:05 p.m.
