LOS ANGELES - The LA Galaxy announced today that the club has signed midfielder Sebastian Lletget to a new contract through the use of Targeted Allocation Money (TAM). Lletget, 27, joined the LA Galaxy during the 2015 MLS season and has made 91 starts while tallying 14 goals and 18 assists during his five seasons in Los Angeles.
Lletget, who is with the USMNT for Concacaf Nations League matches, faces Cuba today at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex at George Town in Cayman Islands (4:30 p.m. PT; FS1, UniMas and TUDN).
Prior to joining the LA Galaxy, Lletget was with West Ham United in the English Premier League from 2010-2015. He made the move to England after featuring for Sporting Santa Clara as a youth player, where he also made multiple appearances for U.S. Men's National Team youth sides, including call ups to the USMNT U-17's, U-20's and U-23's.
Lletget has since become a regular fixture for the senior USMNT, making 13 appearances while scoring two goals and adding an assist since making his debut in January 2017. He has appeared in FIFA World Cup qualifying matches in addition to Concacaf Nations League contests.
The LA Galaxy will travel to South Florida to face Inter Miami CF on Saturday, March 14 in what will mark the expansion club's first Regular Season home game in their inaugural season in Major League Soccer. The game is set to kick off at 2:30 p.m. ET (11:30 a.m. PT) at Fort Lauderdale Stadium. The five-time MLS Cup champion LA Galaxy will kick off their 25th season in Major League Soccer in Spring of 2020.
The Galaxy's season opener, along with the club's entire 2020 MLS Regular Season schedule, will be announced on a later date.
