Milwaukee Mustangs News Release
MILWAUKEE-Milwaukee Iron WR/DB Scott Burnoski has been named to the 2009 af2 All-Ironman team, the arenafootball2 league announced today. The 11-member squad consists of the top two- way players from around the league.
Burnoski led the Iron in receiving with 101 catches for 1,267 yards and 19 touchdowns in 15 games. He made 19.5 tackles (18 solo) and intercepted two passes as a defensive back on a unit that finished fourth in the af2 in total yards allowed. The former La Crosse standout also ran the ball for 18 yards and two touchdowns on seven carries and completed five of 10 passes for 39 yards and a touchdown as the backup quarterback.
"Scott is very well deserving of this honor and epitomized the word âIronman‟ with his play as both a wide receiver and as a defensive back," Head Coach and Director of Football Operations Gary Compton said. "I was glad to have him as a part of the 2009 Iron and look forward to having him in the future."
The 2004 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Player of the Year is the Eagles all- time leader in receptions (195), receiving yards (3,004), and receiving touchdowns (30). Prior to joining the Iron, Burnoski had a tryout with the Green Bay Packers in November of 2007 before spending two seasons with the in-state rival Green Bay Blizzard. In 25 games with the Blizzard, Burnoski totaled 141 catches for 1,878 yards and 41 touchdowns.
