L.A. GALAXY OPEN 2004 TRAINING CAMP AT THE HOME DEPOT CENTER: A mixture of 30-plus veterans and rookies took to Training Field #3 at The Home Depot Center Monday morning, all hoping to land a final roster spot with the 2004 Los Angeles Galaxy. It was the first day of pre-season training camp for the team, an hour and a half long workout under the watchful eyes of Galaxy Vice President/General Manager Doug Hamilton, Head Coach Sigi Schmid, Assistant Coach Martin Vasquez, and Goalkeeper Coach Zak Abdel. With exactly 60 days until Opening Day on April 3 vs. the New England Revolution, the players were looking to showcase their skills and earn a spot on the Galaxy's 2004 roster.

GALAXY, MLS ANNOUNCE 2004 REGULAR SEASON SCHEDULE: The Los Angeles Galaxy will open their second season at The Home Depot Center on Saturday, April 3, 2004 as the club hosts the New England Revolution in Carson, CA. The Galaxy's 2004 schedule will feature two home matches each against defending MLS Cup Champions San Jose Earthquakes and 2003 Eastern Conference champion Chicago Fire, according the 2004 regular season schedule released by Major League Soccer. Overall, the home schedule features 13 Saturday dates, the most in club history eclipsing the previous high of 12 set in the 2002 season. The two remaining home games for the Galaxy will take place on a Wednesday and Sunday, including its annual July 4th game and traditional World-Class fireworks spectacular. RICKY LEWIS, USA U-23's TAKE ON PANAMA TOMORROW IN CONCACAF OLYMPIC QUALIFYING TOURNAMENT: Los Angeles Galaxy defender Ricky Lewis and the rest of his U.S. Under-23 National Team members take on Panama in their first group play match of the CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying Tournament. The Tournament, which will be played in Guadalajara, Mexico from February 2-12, will send its two finalists to the Olympic Football Tournament Athens 2004. The eight teams competing for continental bragging rights will be divided into two groups of four teams apiece, with the USA, Canada, Honduras and Panama fighting it out in Group A, and the hosts, Costa Rica, Jamaica and Trinidad & Tobago battling for supremacy in Group B. The top two finishers in each group at the conclusion of the round-robin phase will qualify to the semifinals, with the winner of one group meeting the second-placed finisher in the other. The two finalists will book the two places available to CONCACAF in Athens.

GALAXY SIGN AGREEMENT WITH ATHLETES' PERFORMANCE FOR 2004 SEASON: The Los Angeles Galaxy have reached an agreement with Athletes' Performance - Los Angeles to become the "Official Performance Training Provider" to the club. The agreement is effective immediately and runs through the 2004 Major League Soccer season, the club and the elite athletic training company announced. The relationship is the first of its kind between Athletes' Performance and an MLS team. Under the terms of the agreement, Athletes' Performance will be responsible for providing service to Galaxy players in three major areas: Performance Training, Regeneration/Nutrition and Performance Testing.

LOS ANGELES GALAXY ANNOUNCE EXTENSIVE TELEVISION PACKAGE ON KWHY- CHANNEL 22: The Los Angeles Galaxy have reached an agreement with Los Angeles television outlet KWHY - Channel 22 to continue as the Spanish language television home of the Galaxy, the club and the station announced this week. KWHY will broadcast five Galaxy matches during the 2004 Major League Soccer season and will continue to air its weekly half-hour show focused on the team, Galaxy Deportivo. KWHY Channel 22 is a Telemundo-affiliated station whose signal covers most of Southern California. KWHY will once again be turning to the familiar faces of Jaime Motta and Elmer Polanco behind the microphone for both the weekly Galaxy Deportivo show and the match broadcasts. The duo should be familiar to the Galaxy's Hispanic fans, as both have done extensive work covering the Galaxy for various media outlets in the Los Angeles market, including serving as the voices and faces for all Galaxy broadcasts on the station a year ago.

DON'T MISS GALAXY DEPORTIVO, THIS AND EVERY SATURDAY AT 3:00 P.M. ON CHANNEL 22: Galaxy Deportivo, The weekly, half-hour Spanish language television show devoted to the Los Angeles Galaxy, can be seen this Saturday, February 7 at 3 p.m. on KWHY - Channel 22. The show brings Southern California soccer fans closer to their favorite team. The program is hosted by the broadcast team familiar to Galaxy fans from 2003; Los Angeles area personalities Jaime Motta and Elmer Polanco. This week's show will look at the first week of the Galaxy's pre-season training camp, step inside the white lines with Galaxy and U.S. National Team midfielder Chris Albright and much, much more. Galaxy Deportivo can be seen at 3 p.m. each and every Saturday on Channel 22.

Did you know ... Los Angeles Galaxy rookie midfielder Ned Grabavoy led Indiana University to the 2003 NCAA Division I National Championship. Grabavoy scored 11 goals for the Hoosiers and was named a first team NSCAA All-American.
