Kyle Van Huizen Is Named as this Week's Peterborough Petes Local Minor Hockey Volunteer

March 3, 2021 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL) - Peterborough Petes News Release

(Peterborough, ON) - President of the Ennismore Minor Hockey Association (EMHA) and coach of the U11 and U15 Eagles, Kyle Van Huizen is recognized as this week's exceptional minor hockey volunteer. The Petes want to celebrate minor hockey volunteers for their contributions to a safe return of minor hockey during this unprecedented season.

Van Huizen is celebrated by parents and players for his collaboration with Selwyn Township in creating a safe return to play plan in October, before the second provincial lockdown. A huge advocate for player development, Van Huizen is known for going out of his way to volunteer as a coach, and for providing mentorship for other coaches around the league.

"As president of EMHA, Kyle has worked tirelessly to build and maintain quality programs in Ennismore, and to ensure a great experience for everyone involved," says Erin Cavanagh, who nominated Kyle. "He's put a huge effort into making this season affordable and flexible for all families."

Each week the Petes will recognize and celebrate one volunteer from the PMHC, PHA, PGHA, and local adaptive hockey organizations for their additional time and effort in ensuring a safe environment and return for hockey.

The Petes welcome players, parents and other members of the minor hockey community to nominate deserving local volunteers by filling out this form.

Every Thursday Petes fans are encouraged to tune into the Peterborough Petes Facebook page for Thursday Night Live (TNL). Each episode of TNL features an exclusive Q&A with special celebrity guests, a musical performance, cooking segments, and merchandise offers.
