Kyle Nosan Re-Signs With Cotton Kings
LUBBOCK, TX: October 4, 2006 - The Lubbock Cotton Kings of the Central Hockey League (CHL) are excited to announce the re-signing of forward Kyle Nosan for the 2006/2007 season.
"Kyle was a pleasant surprise for us last year as he continued to improve throughout the course of the season," said Cotton Kings Head Coach and Hockey Operations Director Chris Dashney. "He will play all situations as a top line center and be an integral piece of the leadership structure within the team."
Nosan returns for his second season with the Kings after arriving last season as a rookie and ranking fifth in CHL rookie scoring with a team rookie-leading 43 points with 14 goals and 29 assists (ranked fourth among CHL rookies). The Baudette, Minnesota native co-led the club in shorthanded goals (2) and led the team with a 10 plus/minus. He also tied an individual game season high with a 4 plus/minus rating on 2/11/06.
Prior to joining the Kings, the 6'1" 205-pound center completed a college tenure at Division III University of Wisconsin - Superior, where he left ranking 16th on the program's all-time scoring list with 42 goals and 83 assists (10th best on the program's all-time assist list) for 125 points. The three-time Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) All-Academic Team member served as the Jackets Team Captain his junior and senior year and claimed All-NCHA and All-WIAC (Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) accolades in each of the two seasons. Nosan, 26, claimed Second Team All-American honors as a senior and received the Max Sparger Award as the WIAC's Male Scholar Athlete of the Year while studying Criminal Justice. He was part of the 2002 NCAA Division III National Championship team at UWS. Before arriving at UWS, Nosan spent a pair of seasons playing junior hockey in the United States Hockey League (USHL) with the Lincoln Stars (98/99) and the Fargo-Moorhead Ice Sharks (98/99 - 99/00), where he combined for 9 goals and 17 assists for 26 points in 103 games.
The signing of Nosan gives the Kings 23 players announced for the 06/07 season. He joins goaltender Michael Clements, Josh Gartner, Brett Koscielny and Kyle Stanton, defensemen Chris Barth, Stacey Bauman, Jason Beatty, Marc Bianchi, Noel Henck, Craig Minard, Troy Neumeier and forwards Bobby Brown, Jimmy Callahan, Pat Doherty, Philippe Lacasse, Andrew Luciuk, Paul McBrien, Jaydyn Murray, Corey Rutt, Simon Watson, Trevor Weisgerber and Michael Young on the 06/07 roster. Nosan qualifies as a developmental player (128 games or less played). Each CHL team must have at least five developmental players on their roster. The Cotton Kings are currently preparing for their eighth season of professional hockey in the South Plains. The season opener is set for Saturday, October 21st, as Lubbock hosts the Odessa Jackalopes at the Lubbock Municipal Coliseum.
