Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release

BOSSIER CITY, LA -- The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs of the Central Hockey League are excited to announce the signing of former All-Star defenseman Jason Basile. Basile joins the the Mudbugs' 2006-2007 roster after suffering an injury that sidelined him for the second half of the 2005-2006 season. His signing adds experience to an already strong defense.

The 28-year-old native of West Bloomfield, Michigan, returns to the Ark-La-Tex for his fifth season as a pro. He's accumulated 27 goals and 46 assists during his four year stint with the Mudbugs. Last year he set a franchise record when he played his 226th consecutive game on January 29th, the fourth longest streak in Central Hockey League history. His 76 points has him ranked fourth in all-time Mudbugs scoring among defenseman. The Mudbugs are glad to see Basile return after an abrupt ending to his season last January.

"The timing couldn't have been worse for the team or for Jason when he was injured last year," said Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Scott Muscutt. "After working extra hard at rehabbing his knee, he's ready for a fresh start. Jason brings so much to the table when it comes to contributing on the power play and the penalty kill and we're glad to have him back."

Basile graduated from Ferris State University in 2002 after a successful four-year career as a college hockey player. He was selected to the Northern Conference All-Star team at the 2005 CHL All-Star Game in Laredo, Texas.

The signing of Jason Basile brings the number of former Mudbugs to six for the 2006-2007 roster. He joins Dan Wildfong, Ken Carroll, Milan Vodrazka, Chris Brassard and Jeremy Downs for training camp this month.

The 10th anniversary of Mudbugs hockey begins October 20th, as the Mudbugs open up the season at Oklahoma City versus the Blazers. Bossier-Shreveport will host the 2007 CHL All-Star game on January 17th, at the CenturyTel Center. All tickets are on sale for the home opener on October 26th against the Laredo Bucks by calling 318-752-BUGS or logging on to www.mudbugshockey.com.
