Kuzminsky Returns to Wingnuts

WICHITA, Kan. - The Wichita Wingnuts added to their bullpen depth on Thursday with the addition of right-handed pitcher Scott Kuzminsky.

Kuzminsky made his professional debut with the Wingnuts back in 2015, going 2-4 with a 4.95 ERA in 22 appearances that included six starts. He finished the 2015 season with Trois-Rivieres of the Can-Am League, then spent the entire 2016 campaign with the Aigles.

The 26-year old righty started 2017 with the Windy City Thunderbolts of the Frontier League, putting together a dominant 32-game stretch operating out of the bullpen. Kuzminsky was 3-2 with a 1.42 ERA, striking out 42 in 31.2 innings while allowing only 12 walks and 23 hits. That performance caught the attention of the Seattle Mariners, who signed him to a minor league contract. The native of Tacoma, Washington reached Triple-A in the Mariners system in 2017, then split the first part of 2018 between High-A Modesto and Double-A Arkansas before being released.

Kuzminsky made four scoreless relief appearances for the Lincoln Saltdogs in 2018, then was released on June 19. He made his Wingnuts debut with 2.1 innings in relief on Thursday against the Cleburne Railroaders, allowing one hit and one run while striking out one.

In 134 career appearances, including six starts, Kuzminsky is 10-8 with a 3.70 ERA over 189.2 innings. He owns a 160/70 strikeout to walk ratio, having surrendered 207 hits. Kuzminsky split his college career between Bellevue Community College and the University of Hawaii, notching a 4-7 record and 3.39 ERA in two seasons with the Rainbow Warriors.
