KUTV2 & KUSG to Broadcast 19 Real Salt Lake Matches in 2010

SANDY, UTAH (Wednesday, March 24, 2010) - Real Salt Lake and KUTV2, Utah's CBS affiliate, today announced that the KUTV family of channels will air 19 RSL contests during the team's much-anticipated 2010 Major League Soccer campaign. The continuing partnership between KUTV and RSL, now entering its second season, guarantees that 26 of the defending MLS Cup champion's 30 MLS regular-season affairs will air on a local or national broadcast partner via free, over-the-air television on KUTV's 2.1 or 2.2 (KUSG) digital channels, or national outlets ESPN2, Fox Soccer Channel and Telefutura. Real Salt Lake's 2010 local broadcast slate, which will include the 30-minute America First Credit Union post-game show following most broadcasts, kicks off on KUSG with the team's 2010 MLS home opener on Saturday, April 10, when the Claret-and-Cobalt welcome Seattle Sounders FC to Sandy for a 7:00 p.m. MT kickoff.

"KUTV2 was the perfect fit for Real Salt Lake and Rio Tinto Stadium during a tremendous first full season in our new home in Sandy, and now we look forward to continued growth with the station's support in 2010," said RSL President Bill Manning, noting that the team's regional games will remain on over-the-air television, as they have since its inception in 2005. "KUTV2's enthusiasm for our success on the field and as a business entity off of it has everyone excited for what has already been an outstanding partnership."

With eight Real Salt Lake games slated for national TV broadcasts, KUTV2 and KUSG will serve as the home for the majority of RSL games this season, with the local TV partner carrying all 10 of the squad's away matches not being aired nationally in addition to nine more contests at RSL's sparkling home of Rio Tinto Stadium. After opening the season with a pair of national TV telecasts this Saturday at San Jose (Fox Soccer Channel) and next Thursday, April 1 at Houston Dynamo (ESPN2), KUSG will air six of the next nine RSL contests, beginning with the April 10 home opener against Seattle. Additionally, each of Real Salt Lake's six CONCACAF Champions League games in August, September and October will be broadcast internationally by Fox Soccer Channel and Fox Sports en Espanol.

"We are once again excited to partner with a true champion in Real Salt Lake," said KUTV 2 General Manager Steve Carlston, noting that viewers should check local listings for KUTV HD and KUSG channel assignments on their satellite and cable providers. "Professional soccer has a strong following and a growing fan base with families and life-long RSL fans. Real Salt Lake and Rio Tinto Stadium form a top notch organization and KUTV is proud of our team effort to bring such a great product to the fans in Utah."

A number of Real Salt Lake's most intriguing match-ups of 2010 can be seen on KUTV2 and KUSG, including RSL's return to Columbus for a playoff rematch against the Crew (KUSG, April 24); the team's first-ever contest against expansion side Philadelphia Union (KUSG, May 8); the annual Pioneer Day contest in Sandy, this year against "Class of ‘05" rival Chivas USA (KUTV2 HD, July 24); and its first-ever visit to Chester, Penn. and the Union's new home of PPL Park (KUSG, Aug. 11). The local broadcast partners will be the home of Real Salt Lake as the regular season winds down, covering all four of RSL's contests in the month of October, including the Utah side's first trip to Red Bull Arena in Harrison, N.J., to take on the New York Red Bulls (KUSG, Oct. 9), the final home contest of the season against FC Dallas (KUTV2 HD, Oct. 16), and the regular season finale against the archrival Colorado Rapids (KUSG, Oct. 23).

The "RSL on KUTV2" broadcast team will see the return of David James and Brian Dunseth for a second season, with James returning to play-by-play duties and Dunseth renewing his role as color analyst. In addition to his gameday duties, fans can watch James welcome various Real Salt Lake personalities to the KUTV2 studio throughout the season for the Sunday edition of "Talkin' Sports," airing each and every Sunday night at 10:35 p.m. MT.

KUTV2 is a Utah-based station and a CBS Television affiliate owned and operated by Four Points Media Group, LLC. In addition to KUTV, Four Points Media Group, LLC also owns and operates eight other television stations located across Utah, Texas, Florida, and Rhode Island.

All regional Real Salt Lake production facilities are provided by Tupelo-Honey Productions, an SCP Worldwide company.
