San Jose Earthquakes News Release

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Earthquakes announced today their English and Spanish language radio broadcast partners for the 2010 season. 1220 KDOW will broadcast all Earthquakes games on the radio in English, while 1370 KZSF "La Kaliente" will air all home games in Spanish.

"We are proud to offer our games in both Spanish and English for the second straight year," said executive vice president David Alioto. "Along with our television broadcasts on Comcast SportsNet, we will have more broadcasts in 2010 than any other season in the history of the club."

The game broadcasts on KDOW kick off Saturday, March 27 when the Quakes host defending MLS Cup champion Real Salt Lake at 6 p.m. PT at Buck Shaw Stadium. All 30 regular season games will air live. As part of the agreement, there will be a weekly segment on KDOW's weekly sports show, Sports Ramble.

"We are thrilled to be the radio home of San Jose Earthquakes soccer for the second straight season," said KDOW general manager Dan Craig. "We are looking forward to another great season of Quakes soccer in 2010."

John Shrader and Jim Kozimor will serve as the radio voices of the Earthquakes in 2010. Shrader has been the voice of the Earthquakes (Clash) either on radio or television since 1996. He has been a broadcaster in the Bay Area for over 30 years. He currently teaches journalism and media at San Jose State University. Prior to his current duties, he spent 15 years at all-sports station KNBR 680 AM, where he hosted talk shows and covered the San Francisco 49ers. Shrader broadcast the 2002 & 2003 MLS All-Star Games and the 2002 and 2003 MLS Cup Finals on the radio.

Kozimor, a veteran sports broadcaster for over 20 years, begins his first season as the play-by-play announcer for all Quakes broadcasts. One of the most versatile announcers in the industry, he is the host of Raiders Postgame Live on Comcast SportsNet California. His play-by-play duties for Comcast SportsNet have included college basketball and football for the Pac-10 and West Coast Conference, high school football, Major League Lacrosse and World Team Tennis. He also called a number of California Cougars games of the Major Indoor Soccer League.

As the only 24-hour business news format station in the San Francisco Bay Area, 1220 KDOW offers a dynamic body of content that is both timely and relevant to today's uncertain economic conditions. With expert financial advice from programmers like Ray Lucia, Moe Ansari and Phil Grande, along with hourly business updates from Bloomberg and CNBC News, KDOW is a salient choice for the most intelligent and reliable financial news information heard on the radio today. Listeners from all over the Bay Area tune into KDOW to find answers related to retirement, wealth preservation, small business development, and the ever-changing stock market. All this makes KDOW your number one place for all local, national and international business news.

The Earthquakes return to KZSF after a five-year absence on the station. The Quakes aired games in Spanish on "La Kaliente" during the 2004 and 2005 seasons. KZSF is a locally owned Spanish language station that hosts daily sports talk shows and also plays a wide variety of popular music.

"We are excited to once again be the Spanish radio home of the San Jose Earthquakes," KZSF Owner and General Manager Carlos Duharte said. "We had a great relationship with the team in the past and we are looking forward to providing great Earthquakes coverage for the Hispanic community."

Carlos Cesar Rivera returns for his third consecutive season as the voice of the Quakes and his sixth overall. A native of El Salvador, Rivera hosts a popular sports talk show from 5-7 p.m. PT Monday through Friday on 1370 AM that covers MLS, Mexican League soccer, as well as many other sports. Rivera, who has worked in radio in the Bay Area for over 30 years, has also called games for the San Francisco 49ers, Oakland Raiders, Oakland Athletics, San Francisco Giants and the San Francisco Bay Blackhawks in his career.
